‘Relief’ of Premier League title has given Arsenal confidence, says David Raya
Keeper says Gunners ‘can beat anybody in this league’
Arteta’s side have started title defence with three wins
David Raya says Arsenal are playing with greater confidence after the “relief” of winning the Premier League. The champions continued their perfect start to the defence of their crown with the 2-1 home win over Chelsea on Sunday, making it nine points out of nine.
It was a powerhouse performance coloured by a freedom of expression, which stood in contrast to the nerviness of the final months of last season when the team laboured under a weight of pressure and expectation before they beat Manchester City to the title. That was Arsenal’s first triumph since 2004 and followed three consecutive runners-up finishes.

Kyle Shanahan "a little confused" playing Friday in Australia, which is Thursday in America
For the American TV audience, the 49ers and Rams play on Thursday night. But they'll be playing in Australia, where it will already be Friday. And 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said in Australia on Monday (which was Sunday in the US) that he's trying to keep his team on a normal routine as if they were playing on a Sunday — which for Australians is a Monday.
Confused? So is Shanahan.
"We're a little confused with — when I look at my clock and it says a time and then I try to see my family's time and then it says the time, but it says yesterday. I don't even get how that's possible," Shanahan said. "So I feel like I'm in the future. And then also when we play on Friday, which I think is a Thursday in the US, we're such creatures of habit. So I call today Tuesday. No, wait, sorry, I call today Wednesday. Which is the first day we put in a game plan. But I think it's Monday. However, though, it's Sunday in the present. So, like I'm gonna mess that up all week if you guys ask me. But today is just our first day of the game plan, which is a Wednesday, and we'll put in some on a Thursday. Friday's the final part of the game plan. Saturday, we walk through and we play on Sunday, which is a Friday in Australia and a Thursday in the US. So, don't ever make me do that again."
Shanahan said he's adhering to the same schedule as the Rams, who are still in the US, and that the 49ers won't be putting out an injury report until the Rams do.
"Because we're technically in the future, from where we're from, and the Rams are in the present, I don't have to talk about injuries until tomorrow," Shanahan said on Monday in Australia, or Sunday in the US.
Despite flying 16 hours to a place with a 17-hour time difference, Shanahan said he's suffering no ill effects from the travel and will be ready to coach his team on Thursday Night Football on Friday.
"It's taken a couple days to adjust but I'm feeling real good today," Shanahan said on Monday — or Sunday.
