World football’s governing body, added: “Fifa is not involved in the immigration processes of host countries, including the adjudication of visas.

On the Canadian government website rules around visiting the country state: “If you have committed or been convicted of a crime, you may not be allowed into Canada.”

Partey has pleaded not guilty to all charges but is awaiting trial and has not been convicted.

Prior to the tournament, Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz, said he had no qualms over selecting Partey, who was at Atletico Madrid before moving to London in 2020 to join the Gunners.

“If the player is here with me, my answer is clear,” said Queiroz.

“I don’t have any comments about my own decisions. He is here so what are we talking about?

“This is not for me or you to make a judgement about.

“Let the events run their normal course; let the river flow and one day when the river meets the ocean we are going to find the truth.”

Stormers loose forward Ruan Ackermann has been suspended for a dangerous cleanout against Leinster.

The 30-year-old has been handed a three-match ban following his red card in the Vodacom URC semi-final in Dublin.

The incident occurred in the 69th minute, with the Stormers trailing just 13-11 and still firmly in contention before they eventually lost 20-11.

Referee Hollie Davidson dismissed Ackerman under Law 9.20(a), which relates to dangerous play at a ruck or maul.

The No 8 admitted he had committed foul play that warranted a red card during the disciplinary process overseen by judicial officer Simon Thomas.

Thomas ruled that the offence warranted a mid-range entry point of six weeks before reducing the sanction by 50% due to Ackermann’s acceptance of wrongdoing and previously clean disciplinary record.

The suspension means Ackermann will miss the Stormers XXIII’s opening three Currie Cup matches against Griquas, Boland and the Sharks.

However, the ban could be reduced to two matches if he successfully completes the World Rugby Coaching Intervention Programme.

Cela montre qu’il guérit extrêmement bien, presque complètement. Nous nous préparons donc à augmenter progressivement sa charge de travail. Il ne sera pas disponible pour demain, mais je pense qu’il démontre, comme il l’a toujours fait, une très bonne capacité à récupérer d’une blessure musculaire », a déclaré Jesse Marsch.

Cette annonce constitue une excellente nouvelle pour le Canada, qui espère réaliser un beau parcours à domicile lors de ce Mondial 2026 organisé conjointement avec les États-Unis et le Mexique. Même s’il manquera le premier rendez-vous face aux Bosniens, Davies pourrait rapidement redevenir une option pour le staff technique.

Jesse Marsch a également souligné l’importance du travail effectué autour du joueur depuis son arrivée en sélection : « La présence de son kinésithérapeute personnel ici a été très utile, tout comme l’attention portée quotidiennement aux besoins de son corps. Nous espérons vraiment qu’au cours des prochains jours et de la semaine à venir, nous pourrons accélérer le processus et lui donner l’occasion d’apporter sa contribution à l’équipe très prochainement », a conclu le sélectionneur du Canada sur Alphonso Davies.

Le Canada croisera désormais les doigts pour récupérer son capitaine le plus rapidement possible afin d’aborder la suite de la compétition avec toutes ses forces vives.
