Orioles call up Gibson to start vs. Yankees

Baltimore Orioles will activate top pitching prospect Trey Gibson to start against the New York Yankees on Sunday, according to manager Craig Albernaz.

The 23-year-old right-hander, ranked Baltimore's No. 3 prospect, will face Max Fried as the Orioles deal with multiple injuries in their rotation. Gibson was called up from Triple-A Norfolk, where he posted a 4.01 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings this season. sportbet.reviews

The Orioles have several pitchers on the injured list, including Trevor Rogers, Dean Kremer and Zach Eflin. Gibson signed with Baltimore as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and has progressed steadily through the minor league system.
