Astros catcher Diaz out with oblique strain

Houston catcher Yainer Diaz was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain Tuesday and will be out 'for a while' according to manager Joe Espada.

Diaz was injured during batting practice Monday and will miss significant time. The Astros have called up catcher César Salazar from Triple-A Sugar Land to serve as backup, with Christian Vázquez taking over as the starting catcher.

The 27-year-old Diaz is hitting .248 with two home runs and 14 RBIs in 26 games this season. sports24.club
