Ireland-Israel Game After Player Vote

Republic of Ireland's fixtures against Israel will proceed after players voted to play despite manager Heimir Hallgrimsson's controversial comments about Gaza.

Republic of Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson yesterday regretted his "playing against genocide" comments about fixtures against Israel, which drew accusations of "stupidity, ignorance and hypocrisy" from the Israel football federation.

Irish prime minister Micheál Martin responded: "Israel can't keep denying what the world knows." Hallgrimsson clarified that playing means "not accepting what is happening" and that players aren't supporting events in Gaza. cricket-info.homes
