No Market Yet for Mac Jones

According to The Athletic, there has been no market yet for Mac Jones, backup to 49ers starter Brock Purdy.

With plenty of free-agent quarterbacks currently available, teams in need of a signal-caller are more likely to consider players they can acquire without losing a draft pick, explains The Athletic. Jones, who is due to make just $3.25 million in 2026, signed a two-year deal with the 49ers last year, giving them control over his rights through 2026.

The 49ers say they don't want to trade Jones, but that's likely posturing. For the right price, they would find another No. 2 for the coming season. Teams looking for quarterbacks should first explore the open market before considering a trade for the 2021 first-round pick.
