Cox Powers Purdue Past Northwestern

C.J. Cox scored 27 points, including 21 in the second half, as No. 14 Purdue defeated Northwestern 70-66 to avoid a third straight loss.

Cox's hot second half helped Purdue rally from a slow start, hitting a crucial fade-away three with three minutes left and another corner three with 48 seconds remaining for a 68-66 lead. Trey Kaufman-Renn contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds despite hurting his shoulder.

The Boilermakers faced challenges with turnovers, as nearly a third of Northwestern's first-half points came off Purdue miscues. Braden Smith went scoreless in the first half as the Wildcats successfully pressured him to give up the ball.
